This hands-on workshop is designed to equip internal auditors with the skills and tools necessary to leverage data analytics in their audit processes. Focusing on intermediate-level techniques, it aims to enhance participants’ ability to analyse complex data, replace manual audit tasks through analytics, and apply an analytics mindset throughout their audits. The session will cover practical methods and widely used tools to test, interpret, and validate data, helping auditors make informed decisions and deliver more effective assurance outcomes.

- Biography
Tariq is a highly experienced internal audit, data and analytics professional with nearly 20 years of corporate experience. In 2023, Tariq started a boutique data, analytics and AI consultancy called RapidLynx Consulting which mainly services internal audit and risk management teams. As part of his consultancy, Tariq also works as a consultant for IIA-Australia to deliver External Quality Assessments of internal audit functions and provide data and analytics services. Prior to starting RapidLynx, Tariq spent 7 years working in internal audit at two of the Big 4 banks where he held Executive Manager Analytics roles. He also worked in risk consulting at PwC for several years as a data analytics specialist.
Tariq has more than 10 years experience with data visualisation. He first started using Tableau for data visualisation while working at PwC on complex fraud investigations and internal audits. Across his Big 4 banking roles, Tariq frequently used Tableau to develop data visuals for fieldwork execution and audit reports. Since establishing RapidLynx, Tariq started using Power BI for data visualisation and has used the tool for consulting engagements and to produce visuals for internal audit and Audit and Risk Committee reports. He has also provided Power BI training to diverse internal audit teams ranging from government to financial services.
