The Bribery Prevention Network (BPN) is a public-private partnership that brings together business, civil society, academia and government with the shared goal of supporting Australian business to prevent, detect and address bribery and corruption and promote a culture of compliance. 
Bribery is a widespread phenomenon in international business, raising serious moral and political concerns, undermining good governance and economic development, and distorting international competitive conditions.
This webinar highlights the important role internal auditors can provide as a critical line of defence against bribery and corruption.

Presenter: Lara Taylor, Program Coordinator, UN Global Compact Network Australia & Bribery Prevention Network
 
Lara has a background in Risk and Compliance specialising in ethical sourcing and sustainability in the retail sector. She coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Bribery Prevention Network, a public-private partnership that brings together business, civil society, academia and government with the shared goal of supporting Australian business to prevent, detect and address bribery and corruption. Lara holds a Bachelor of International Studies (Development) and a Masters of Regulation and Compliance focused on ESG regulation. Her passion lies in corporate development practice, where she strives to align businesses with ethical and sustainable principles.
 
Cindy McNair, Managing Associate, Allens
Cindy is a Managing Associate in the Disputes and Investigations team, focusing on major regulatory investigations and enforcement actions, significant disputes and risk and compliance matters. She has extensive financial and corporate crime experience, which has included representing multinational companies, global financial institutions and individuals in high profile and complex investigations and proceedings both in the US and Australia involving alleged breaches of AML/CTF laws, sanctions violations, bribery, fraud, insider trading and other financial misconduct. Cindy also regularly advises clients on the design, review and implementation of compliance and risk management frameworks, corporate governance issues, and remediation and uplift following regulatory activity.
 
 
Sonia Mendes, Senior Manager, Group Financial Crime, Compliance and Conduct, Westpac
Sonia is a Senior Manager, Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC), within Westpac’s Group Financial Crime Risk team, since April 2023 working closely with senior stakeholders across the business to drive a culture of integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement. She has over 23 years of experience in Risk, Governance, Assurance and Regulatory Compliance, gained within consulting (KPMG South Africa and Australia) and internal audit, risk, and ABC compliance in-house roles in South Africa (South32; BHP). As a Charted Accountant since 2006 with a multidisciplinary background and specialisation in ABC compliance programs, she provides a practical lens to effectively operationalise and build out adequate measures designed to prevent bribery.
