At the end of the training course, the participants will be able to:
- outline the whistleblower legislation requirements and standards including ISO 37002
- determine the role of internal audit and other parts of the organisation in the whistle-blower compliance program
- protect the whistle-blower and yourself – understanding roles, responsibilities, and anonymity rules
- efficiently handle a whistle-blower who makes a report to the internal audit team
- relate internal auditor as a whistleblower and eligible recipient
- outline what the best practice whistle-blower framework looks like?
- manage disclosures made to the internal audit team
- whistleblower legislation requirements link to internal Whistleblower Policy and Investigation Process
- describe the evidence-gathering structure
- list the practical tips and best practices for conducting the investigation process
- list the statutory law, the laws of evidence and procedure, legal privileges
- analyse and evaluate the evidence and red flags
- describe what to include in an investigation report.

- Biography
- Stephen has over 20 years’ experience leading assurance and advisory teams in both a private and public-sector context. He was previously a partner in a global professional services firm and has held senior roles in advisory and consulting services, technology risk consulting, and assurance services.
Stephen has significant IT assurance & advisory experience specialising in information technology governance, and risk and control; and has been involved in major IT advisory, security and forensic projects globally.
He was a Vice-Chair of the Global IT Guidance Committee of the Institute of Internal Auditors, authoring “strongly recommended” IT audit guidance for the profession worldwide. He is currently a member of the International Internal Audit Standards Board (IIASB).Stephen actively volunteers to grow the profession and is a Past President of IIA-Australia and is currently the President of the Asian Confederation of the Institutes of Internal Auditors.
