Chapter Annual Meeting and Council Elections

This meeting will comprise of the NSW Chapter annual meeting followed by the member meeting. The formal paperwork for your Chapter Annual Meeting is available here .

The NSW Chapter Chair, Charlie Puddicombe will provide his annual report highlighting the activities of the Council over the past 12 months. This will be followed by the election of the Council Office Bearers for the 2018/2019 period.

Registrations take place from 5.00-5.30pm, the annual meeting will start promptly at 5.30pm.

Topic: The world of Fraud – Highlights from the 2018 Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Report

Session Overview:

John will be presenting the results of the latest research into fraud and corruption and discussing the implications for your workplace. In particular John will be reviewing the latest information from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and from the NSW Auditor General and the just released report into fraud in local government. Areas covered include who's committing fraud, how are they committing it, how is fraud detected.

Speaker:  John Watt, Independent Consultant

John Watt is one of Australia’s leading experts in fraud and corruption prevention.  John has been active in this area for over ten years, when he led the NSW Audit Office Performance Audit of Fraud in NSW Public Agencies.  He followed this up by writing the original NSW Audit Office Fraud Control Improvement Kit, which continues to be the basis for Audit Office activities in this area.

John has worked in a myriad of high profile agencies assisting them with fraud and corruption prevention including the NSW Police Force.  He has also worked with the Australian Taxation Office, the Office of State Revenue, the NSW Fire Brigades, the NSW Cancer Institute, the Ministry of Health, Hawkesbury City Council and the City of Parramatta Council in preventing fraud and corruption occurring. 

In addition, John has run over 250 fraud and corruption prevention courses across all levels of government including most recently for the City of Parramatta Council.
