Parramatta Members Meeting July

This topic is repeated from the AGM and Members Meeting on the 21 May 2019

Topic: Auditing Culture

Never before has there been such a focus on Risk Culture and Culture in general. High profile events like the Royal Commission into Financial Services have only confirmed what many of us have known or a long time.....

No risk management or control framework will save you if the culture of the organisation does not align with its values.

It follows that the internal auditor now has a greater role than ever to play. It’s not just about developing ways of auditing culture, it’s about building observations on culture into every aspect of our work. What are we observing around us? What attitudes do we see around us in practice? How do people behave at critical “moments of truth?”

The internal auditor is often well placed to provide valuable insights based on their observations across the organisation. To build on these insights however, a more formal approach to auditing culture is needed. The challenge is making the intangible, tangible and auditable.

George’s session is designed to explore and discuss the role of the internal auditor in reporting on Culture and to consider ways of making the intangible, tangible and auditable.

Speaker: George Sutton AMIIA, National Head of Business Risk Services, Grant Thornton

A light lunch will be provided and this meeting will give you an opportunity to catch up with your peers with ample time for networking after the session.
