This session will provide practical insights on how the
risk and internal audit landscape for the University of South Australia (UniSA)
changed in the wake of COVID-19.
Matt Rickard, Head of Risk and Assurance at Uni SA will discuss how
South Australia’s largest University responded to its most critical challenge,
changing not just its internal audit plan, but also its focus on risk management
across the entire organisation.

Matthew is a Chartered Accountant and holds various
degrees within the disciplines of business and psychology. Over 18 years he
has developed considerable experience in Risk Management, Internal Audit,
Governance and Project Management. His experience has been gained both domestically
and internationally through working in consulting, not-for-profit and
education sectors. Matthew is currently the Head: Risk and Assurance for the University
of South Australia and has held the position since November 2019. He is
responsible for overseeing the University’s Risk Management, Business Continuity
and Assurance Frameworks and the delivery of services under those frameworks.
His focus since 2019 has been to increase Risk and Assurance maturity
whilst supporting the institution throughout the COVID pandemic.
