Three Lines of Assurance (also referred to as Integrated Assurance) is being adopted by organisations across different sectors. During this session, we will discuss the shift in approach, where the 1st and 2nd lines are becoming more systemically integrated with risk management routines and are considerably more dynamic in checking the status of controls and challenging risk ratings.

Presenter: Ernest Sellers, Director and Founder, On Demand Risk Assurance Advisory

Ernest has more than 25 years’ experience in senior governance, risk and assurance roles across Mining, Industrial, Government and Not For Profit Sectors. He has a history of successfully building and managing high-performance Internal Audit and assurance teams in complex, diverse, listed companies operating across multiple jurisdictions and product groups. His expertise includes designing, delivering and coaching assurance programs to provide confidence over risks operating within acceptable limits and regulations. His clients include: South32, BHP, St John of God Health Care, Orica Mining services and Perenti Mining services.

Presenter: Luke Boswarva, Practice Lead – Risk Technical

For the past three years, Luke has been at the forefront of South32’s journey into integrated assurance. This journey has provided Luke with the opportunity to lead South32’s transition from a centralised 2nd Line model to a decentralised model that saw each of South32’s Functions establish dedicated risk & assurance capability. More broadly Luke has over ten years’ experience in governance, risk and assurance roles across the Mining, Electricity and Government sectors and he also served as an Infantry Officer in the Australian Army Reserve for 13 years.
