To complete the form, you will need:

  • Your contact details.
  • The nominee’s contact and organisation details.
  • Details of the nominee’s leadership, achievements and contribution to internal audit.
  • A nomination statement of up to 750 words.
  • The contact details of one internal and one external referee.

About the award

The Emerging Internal Audit Leader Award recognises superior and progressive contributions by an individual to their organisation and/or the internal audit profession. Past recipients have demonstrated initiative, innovation and a genuine commitment to strengthening governance, risk and assurance.

You can nominate another person or self-nominate for this award.
Nomination requirements

Eligibility

The nominee must
  • Have no more than five years’ experience as an internal auditor and be working in the profession at the time of nomination.
  • Be a financial member of IIA-Australia in good professional standing.
  • Provide evidence of a valued contribution to their organisation or the profession.
  • Be able to provide organisational endorsement of the achievement.
Contributions may include
  • Introducing an innovative internal audit approach that improved outcomes for the function or its stakeholders.
  • Increasing the visibility and acceptance of internal audit as an essential organisational function.
  • Building organisational capability through education, collaboration or support for others.
  • Successfully implementing another initiative that demonstrates leadership and professional impact.
Who is not eligible?
  • IIA Global and IIA-Australia Board or Board Committee members at the time of nomination or judging.
  • Any person who has directly or indirectly received payment for work performed for IIA-Australia in the 12 months before nomination.

Shortlisted nominees receive
  • Two complimentary tickets to the SOPAC® 2027 Gala Dinner.
  • One economy airfare and one night’s accommodation, where applicable and subject to the Awards Terms and Conditions.
  • Public recognition across IIA-Australia channels.
The award winner receives
  • An engraved award and letter of achievement.
  • Formal recognition at the SOPAC® 2027 Gala Dinner on 16 March 2027

IIA-Australia may conduct preliminary screening interviews with eligible candidates and/or their referees and may verify information provided in a nomination. The judging panel reserves the right not to present an award if no candidate sufficiently meets the criteria.
