IIA-Australia Board

Ross is Head of Audit, Reserve Bank of Australia. He had many years at a ‘Big 4’ professional services firm leading a high calibre and increasingly diverse team delivering an array of GRC services, firstly in Perth before moving to Sydney. Prior to joining the IIA-Australia Board, Ross was an independent member of the IIA-Australia Nominations Committee. He is IIA-Australia’s President and is chair of the IIA-Australia Board, Executive Committee and Remuneration Committee and is an ex officio member of the Nominations Committee. Ross is a director and treasurer of a Sydney-based NFP and chairs CA ANZ’s Risk Specialisation Group.

Judith is a highly experienced Internal Audit and Risk professional with over 25 years’ experience in Internal Audit across a range of sectors, more recently within financial services. She is a Director on the IIA-Australia Board, one of the IIA-Australia Vice Presidents, a member of the IIA-Australia Nominations Committee and previously served as a Councillor then Chair, IIA-Australia Victoria Chapter Council. She is the Board liaison with the Victoria Chapter Council.

Sue is a Non-Executive Director and an Independent Audit and Risk Committee member. She has a strong background in audit and assurance, compliance and risk, finance, business partnering and transformation with broad experience gained in local and international organisations in the mining, telecommunication, energy, manufacturing and retail sectors. Sue is currently a member of the IIA-Australia Executive Committee, is the Board liaison with the Western Australia Chapter Council and is Chair of the IIA-Australia Advocacy Advisory Working Group.

John is the Manager, Audit, Risk & Assurance Service, Bravus, and has over 25 years’ experience in governance, risk, and compliance. John started his career in the ‘Big 4’, which included a lengthy secondment to an international mining company as the Head of Audit for its Australian operations, before proceeding to in-house roles leading the audit and risk functions. He has had extensive experience with IIA-Australia, having previously served as a Councillor on the Queensland Chapter Council, including two years as Chapter Chair. John is Chair of IIAAustralia’s Audit and Risk Committee as well as the Board Liaison with the Queensland Chapter Council.

Evelyn is the Head of Audit – Australia and New Zealand – Zurich Financial Services Australia. She is an experienced senior governance executive in the highly regulated global financial services sector. Known as a global thought leader, expert in assurance and proficiently adept in applying critical thinking to solve complex business problems. Throughout her career, Evelyn has a strong history of leading strategic transformation within Internal Audit. Experienced in mergers & acquisitions, and the design and implementation of better practice audit functions. She is also a dedicated advocate for social inclusion, known for her transformative leadership in promoting equity and diversity.

Susan has been the Director Risk & Assurance at Centium since September 2023. She is a career internal auditor with over 26 years’ experience across corporate, not for profit organisations and the public sector. She holds a part-time sessional academic role teaching risk management at Charles Sturt University and is an independent member of a NSW Council, Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee. Susan is currently a member of the Education Committee as the Board representative and Board liaison for the NSW Chapter Chair.

Philomena is Group Executive Education, Institute of Public Accountants. She has a track record of significant contributions to higher education, the internal audit profession with- the Institute of Internal Auditors - Australia and internationally. She is a recognised thought leader in business and a passionate and enthusiastic advocate for the internal audit profession. Philomena is a member of the Professional Responsibility & Ethics Committee and the Board liaison with the South Australia Chapter Council.

Adam is currently a Partner with PwC – Risk and Digital Trust business and leads the Transformation Assurance business in WA.  Adam is a respected executive with more than twenty years of experience leading and developing high performing and engaged multi-disciplinary teams.   He has expertise in transforming and modernising, risk and  assurance practices driving enhancement to culture, governance, and control across a range of industries in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Stephen is the Director, Internal Audit and Risk Assurance for Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, an organisation delivering supplies of life-giving blood and plasma products, as well as research and expertise in diagnostic, clinical, transplantation and immunogenetics. He is the former IIA-Australia President/Board Chair and Audit and Risk Committee Chair. Throughout 2024, Stephen was a member of the Remuneration Committee. Stephen is also an accredited IIA Internal Audit Quality Assessor and remains a committed contributor to the Institute of Internal Auditors, this includes being a member of the Vision 2035 Committee (IIA Global) and Executive member of the Asian Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditors. Stephen is also an active presenter to several risk and control interest groups and a member of the Victorian Health Information Sharing Management Committee appointed by the Victorian Secretary of the Department of Health.

IIA-Australia Board Committees

A leadership and administrative committee, with a primary purpose to oversee the implementation of Board/IIA-Australia policy between full board meetings.

The Audit and Risk Committee assists the board in fulfilling its corporate governance and oversight responsibilities in relation to corporate reporting processes, including the financial reporting process, risk management and internal control, audit and compliance.

The Nominations Committee advises the Board on the skills matrix of directors, and nominations for Chapter Council office-bearers, as well as the selection of recipients of IIA-Australia achievement awards.

The Education Committee assists the Board in discharging its responsibilities by monitoring and advising on IIA-Australia’s professional education program. It contributes to IIA-Australia’s strategic purpose through its foresight and insight on educational matters of concern to the internal auditing profession.  The Committee acts as an Academic Board with respect to academic oversight of the Graduate Certificate in Internal Auditing including assessment of students and approval of results.
