Before you begin

Thank you for taking the time to nominate an outstanding internal auditor for the IIA-Australia Internal Auditor of the Year Award 2026.

The award recognises an individual who has delivered a major strategic outcome that contributed to their organisation’s performance while upholding the Standards.

To complete the form, you will need:

• Your contact details.
• The nominee’s contact and organisation details.
• Details of the nominee’s achievements, strategic impact and contribution to internal audit.
• A nomination statement of up to 750 words.
• The contact details of one internal and one external referee. A CEO or direct report and Audit and Risk Committee Chair are viewed favourably.

About the award

Eligibility

• Be able to provide their organisation’s endorsement of the achievement.
• Have a minimum of five years’ experience as an internal auditor and be employed in the profession at the time of nomination.
• Have good professional standing and be a financial member of IIA-Australia.

• Introducing innovative internal audit approaches that improved audit outcomes.
• Increasing the visibility and credibility of the internal audit function with senior management and/or the Board.
• Achieving a significant organisational benefit through the work of the internal audit function.
• Successfully implementing another initiative not referred to above.

Recognition and prize

• Two complimentary tickets to the SOPAC® 2027 Gala Dinner.
• One economy airfare and one night’s accommodation, where applicable and subject to the Awards Terms and Conditions.
• Public recognition across IIA-Australia media.

• An engraved plaque and letter of achievement.
• Formal recognition at the SOPAC® 2027 Gala Dinner on 16 March 2027.
