The complexity of the business environment has increased and a new consciousness of the requirement to manage the risks that arise from operating in this environment has emerged. Managing risk is everyone’s responsibility. The Committee of Sponsoring Organisations (COSO) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework is a way of organising your approach to managing risk.
The COSO ERM Certificate Program offers you the unique opportunity to learn the concepts and principles of the 2017 ERM framework and to be prepared to integrate the framework into your organisation’s strategy-setting process to drive business performance.
A combination of self-study pre-work and an in-person training course provides the knowledge necessary to understand and apply COSO’s Enterprise Risk Management – Integrating with Strategy and Performance. The ERM Framework assists management and boards of directors with their respective duties for managing risk. It does so by explaining five easy-to-understand components that accommodate different viewpoints and operating structures and enhances strategies and decision-making.

- Pre-work: One self-study course that takes approximately two hours to complete
- The goal of the online learning component is to provide to you with an introduction to key concepts
of COSO’s 2017 Enterprise Risk Management – Integrating with Strategy and Performance and to
allow you to begin thinking about the ERM Framework in the context of your own entity. This will
prepare you for the group session. Examples are provided to illustrate the concepts presented.
- The goal of the online learning component is to provide to you with an introduction to key concepts
- Live Training Program:2 days (4 half days) of group training
- Online Exam: Complete the exam at the date and time that works best for you within 90 days of finishing the learning program
- eBook of COSO’s Enterprise Risk Management – Integrating with Strategy and Performance: Use the eBook to reference the ERM framework directly
- Certificate and Digital Badge: You will receive a PDF certificate suitable for printing and framing and a digital badge that can be easily shared with your professional network
Course Ojectives:
- Analyse the value of enterprise risk management when setting and carrying out strategy and objectives
- Apply the integration of enterprise risk management with strategy and performance
- Demonstrate familiarity with the concepts of the ERM Framework, including components and principles
- Apply the concepts of the ERM Framework to a variety of situational examples.
Online Classroom: This training program will be delivered in 3-hour lessons (10:30 am – 01:30 pm AEDT) over 4 days on 17-20 October using Zoom.
Registrations will be strictly limited to 12 participants to allow maximum interaction in the online environment.

- Michael has had a career of over 40 years in Internal Audit, Information Technology and Finance. He is a significant contributor to the theory and practice of Risk Management. Michael was the 2015 recipient of the ‘Victor Z Brink Award’ which is the highest honour that can be conferred on an internal auditor worldwide and recognises Michael’s significant contribution to the profession over a lifetime of service.
