End of Year Wrap-Up

Festive greetings!

2024 has been an exciting year for IIA. It started with a bang – the release of the Global Internal Audit Standards (GAIS) on 9 January, and closes with a symphony made up of membership growth, increased professional development participation, exceptional technical resources and a new level of profile for the profession. As always, our success is driven by our members and we thank you all.

We are especially proud that this year the internal audit profession was recognised in two parliamentary joint committee reports and the draft ASX Corporate Governance Principles and Guidelines.

As thoughts turn to the New Year, it will be a busy one for the governance, risk and assurance (GRA) profession and the IIA. Here are some of the highlights for the early part of the year:

  • The New Standards: Come into effect in January. We’ve been adding new and updated resources to the library and you can reach out to us if you need help.
  • Competency-Based Learning: In the first half of next year, we will launch our new competency-based learning framework mapped to career and credential destinations. This is a long way of saying smart-learning-pathways and microcredentials.
  • SOPAC 2025 in Melbourne – 1-2 April: Mark your calendar (or buy a ticket for Christmas 😊) for this always outstanding opportunity to network, learn and share ideas with peers.

This is a small sample of what is in store. But, before then, there is the festive season to be enjoyed. And at this special time of year, on behalf of the Board and IIA-AU team, we wish you joy and hope your New Year is bright.

Thank you for your support.
