Emerging Internal Audit Leader Award 2025 

The Emerging Internal Audit Leader Award recognises superior and progressive contributions by an individual to their organisation and/or internal audit profession. Enthusiastic and passionate about governance and risk assurance, past winners have brought innovation and perspective to the profession.

The shortlisted nominees will receive:

  • Two complimentary tickets to SOPAC® gala dinner.

  • One economy airfare and one night’s accommodation (capped value)

  • Public recognition across IIA-Australia media

The Award winner will receive:

  • An engraved plaque and letter of achievement

Eligibility

To be eligible, a nominee must:

  • Be able to demonstrate they have made a valued contribution to their organisation, such as:

    • Introduced an innovative internal audit approach that improved the internal audit process for the function and/or stakeholders.

    • Increased the visibility and acceptance of Internal Audit as an essential function of a healthy organisation.

    • Fostered organisational capability through education, support of others and collaboration.

    • Successfully implemented another initiative not referred to above.

  • Be able to provide the organisation’s endorsement of the achievement.

  • Have no more than 5 years' experience as an internal auditor and be employed in the profession at the time of nominating

  • Have good professional standing and be a financial member of the IIA-Australia.

People who are ineligible to apply:​

  • IIA Global and IIA-Australia Board and Board Committee members at the time of nomination or judging are not eligible. 

  • Any person who has directly or indirectly received payment for work performed for IIA-Australia in the 12 months prior to nomination.

Process & Requirements

  • Nominations close midnight AEDT 3 November 2025
  • Please include the name and contact details of one internal and one external referee. CEO or direct report and ARC Chair are viewed favourably
  • The IIA-Australia Team may conduct a preliminary screening interview with eligible candidates and/or referees. The application form maybe forwarded to third parties for confirmation of statements
  • The judging panel will review, interview and determine shortlists (noting that if they believe there is no suitable candidate, none will be awarded)
  • Nominees may be interviewed in late November and we ask that they commit to a panel interview at that time.
  • Referees will be interviewed in early December and we would ask they are available to commit to a panel interview at this time
  • Finalists will be announced in February 2026
  • The judging panel will determine the winner remain confidential until announced during the SOPAC® Awards ceremony
