CPE Requirements for Certification Holders

Certifications (IIA Global)

SOME IMPORTANT CHANGES WILL BE MADE TO CPE REPORTING AND HOW CERTIFICATION HOLDERS CAN RETAIN THEIR ACTIVE STATUS FROM 1 SEPTEMBER 2023.

CPE is facilitated through a self-certification process with the completion and reporting of required CPE hours on an annual basis.

Please refer to the Annual Certification Renewal Policy (formerly known as Continuing Professional Education Policy: Requirements for Certification and Qualification Programshere.

The reporting deadline is December 31 each year. Certified candidates will receive three reminder emails from IIA Global 90, 60 and 30 days before the deadline of December 31. All certified candidates will be required to login to CCMS and report their CPE – 40 hours for CIA and 20 hours for all other certifications. The CPE reporting fee will be payable directly to IIA Global through CCMS. The pricing structure is available here. IIA-certified professionals who fail to meet their CPE requirements by the reporting deadline will automatically be placed in inactive status and may not use their designation.

Newly certified CIAs are awarded 40 CPE hours, applied to the year in which the exam is passed.

Newly certified CRMA are awarded 20 CPE hours applied to the year in which the exam is passed.

IIA certified professionals are responsible for ensuring that the CPE information reported is accurate and up-to-date. Also, IIA certified professionals are responsible for updating their contact details on the CCMS, to ensure receipt of notifications and reminders from CCMS.
